Remarks Spinach is a host of this fungus. However, no references found indicating seed as a pathway for C. beticola in spinach. There are reports that seed is a pathway in beets but it is also noted that the importance of seed as a pathway in beets is limited compared to crop debris or in areas where the fungus is endemic. Available information indicates there is no scientific basis for regulation of C. beticola on spinach seed.
