Remarks One reference found indicating seed as a pathway for SoMV in spinach. One seed lot from Hungary was evaluated and it was shown the virus was present in the seed and could be transmitted to the seedlings. The virus levels of the infected lot were considered high. No other references found indicating seed as a pathway for SoMV in spinach. Seed is a pathway in other members of Chenopodiaceae. A quality systems approach in production of the seeds by crop inspections should reduce the chances of seed contamination.
