Species Cucumis melo
Crop Melon
Pest Scientific Name Cochliobolus lunatus
Additional Info
Complementary Info Anamorph: Curvularia lunata
Type Fungus
Pest Classification Is seed a pathway in this crop? No
Main literature references 4-136
Remarks No references found indicating seed as a pathway for C. lunatus in melon. The fungus is most commonly associated with seed of grasses, grains and flowers. The normal harvesting (avoiding infected fruit), cleaning and sanitization of melon seed would eliminate any superficial contamination. Melon fruit can be infected by the fungus if stored in high humidity. Available information indicates there is no scientific basis for regulation of C. lunatus on melon seed.
