Remarks The melon fly is a pest of melon fruits. The flies lay their eggs and larvae eat the fruit flesh and seeds. The flies prefer to lay their eggs at an early stage of fruit development. No references found indicating seed as a pathway for M. pardalina on melon. Commercial seed harvesting, cleaning and sanitization should remove the threat of M. pardalina being associated with seed. <strong>Available information indicates there is no scientific basis for regulation of M. pardalina on melon seed. </strong>
