Type Virus
Pest Classification Is seed a pathway in this crop? No

Remarks CLSV is transmitted by the soil fungus Olpidium radicale and the incidence is limited. There is conflicting evidence as to whether Cucurbita spp is a host of CLSV. In some references inoculation of Cucurbita spp plants with CLSV resulted in local lesions only which is indicative of a non-host reaction. One report indicates infection in Cucurbita pepo in the field. No references found indicating seed as a pathway for CLSV in Cucurbita spp. The only reference to seed transmission is in cucumber and is unpublished experimental data that cannot be evaluated. Available information indicates there is no scientific basis for regulation of CLSV on Cucurbita spp. seed.
